Zeek Partners with Local Autism Programs for Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness month and we have some exciting initiatives in the works to share educational resources, host important conversations, and make a contribution to those in our local Autism community.
Zeek's mission is to Build Strong Kids™ and this isn't just about sports or physical strength.
To us, building strong kids is about teaching our kids kindness and compassion; it's about encouraging them to dream big, work hard, and achieve their full potential as human beings; and it's about embracing their community and the differences of those within it.
While we often communicate the importance of this mission regardless of kids' background, race, religion, or gender– our mission also extends to those who face developmental challenges.
This month we'll be sharing content and featuring kids and parents in the Autism community to amplify their stories and their important message.
As we kick off Autism Awareness month, I wanted to share a few key facts from Autism Speaks:
- 1 in 54 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Boys are four times more likely to be diagnosed with autism than girls
- Minority groups tend to be diagnosed later and less often
- Early intervention provides the best opportunity to support kids', and later adults', healthy development
Autism Awareness month is so important precisely because of this last fact: early intervention improves learning, social skills, and brain development throughout the entire lifetime of an individual.
As part of Autism Awareness month we're happy to announce we're partnering with two amazing Bay Area Autism Programs: Pacific Autism Center for Education and Autism Society San Francisco Bay Area.
For every Zeek Bar sold in April we'll be donating a bar to PACE & SFASA. These bars will be provided to kids in PACE's classroom and at SFASA's family swimming events starting in June. We're humbled and honored to help provide healthy snacks for these wonderful programs.
We can't wait to kick off Autism Awareness month and we look forward to continuing to build strong kids together!
